By 09/27/2016February 25th, 2022News

Norfolk, VA. September 27, 2016 – ARDX, a healthcare management and IT consulting firm, will host the 9th Annual Women’s Wellness Celebration (WWC) on October 11, 2016. This year’s WWC focus, Mental Health Matters: Opening Eyes. Opening Minds. aims to bring awareness to mental health issues faced by adolescent girls and women within the Hampton Roads community. This engaging celebration will take place at the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, VA and features a full day of conference workshops, mind mapping, and open panel discussions, followed by an inspiring dinner featuring keynote speaker and honoree Dr. Stacie Otey-Scott (Dr. SOS).

“In these challenging times it is critical that we focus on the mental health well-being within our community, and I’m truly honored that Sentara has joined us in our pursuit as our 2016 WWC Conference Sponsor,” said Angela Reddix, Founder, President, and CEO of ARDX. “When researchers, practitioners, educators, faith-based organizations, and the community join together in having open, honest discussions about the societal pressures placed on women and ways in which we can improve access to quality mental health services, it is a true testament of the WWC’s mission.”

The conference, beginning at 9:00 a.m., will include workshops with topics on combatting stress and mental health disorders, bullying, and low self-esteem issues. The WWC is designed for attendees to not only learn about numerous mental health coping techniques, but to also foster impactful conversations between speakers, panelists, and attendees on how we can improve access to quality mental health services in our community.

Immediately following the full day conference, attendees will gather for the WWC Dinner to celebrate the day’s activities and pay tribute to this year’s keynote speaker and honoree Dr. Stacie Otey-Scott. Dr. Ottey-Scott is a licensed clinical psychologist, quickly becoming recognized as a television and radio personality. As the Executive Director of Community Wellness at The Mount and the Clinical Director of the Summit Wellness Center, her contributions to improving access and awareness to mental health and wellness services for women within the Hampton Roads area is commendable.

Tickets for the Women’s Wellness Celebration range from $60 – $35 and can be purchased at www.ardx.net.

We are also excited to announce that Mayor Kenneth Alexander of the City of Norfolk and Mayor William D. Sessoms of the City of Virginia Beach have proclaimed October 11, 2016 “Women’s Wellness Celebration Day.”

About Women’s Wellness Celebration

The Women’s Wellness Celebration (WWC) is a not-for-profit conference, aimed to inspire and empower women within the Hampton Roads area to make healthy life choices for themselves and their families. Through training and educational programs focused on emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness, the WWC helps women understand the impact healthy mindsets and healthy habits have on the future of our children and our communities.

In 2008, ARDX, a healthcare management firm located in Norfolk, Virginia, recognized the need to cultivate healthier homes and communities for our children. More importantly, we understood the influence that women hold in our children’s lives and that effective change not only starts at the top but starts from within.

The WWC provides women the opportunity to step away from their daily routines and to take time to focus on themselves. By focusing on their well-being women build a stronger individual who will positively impact their households and the community, and in turn, impact future leaders – our children.
